MBA Conference "Responsible Purchasing in business: chimera or engine of economic performance?"
Purchasing has evolved. And continue to evolve. Driven by economic (structural) and technological (cyclical) changes, this corporate function must adapt to the new demands of an environment that looks beyond the economic aspects of a company.
Benjamin Chevalier, MBA 2009 and director of Améliore Conseil, will explain what responsible purchasing is, and how it contributes to corporate performance.
Purchasing was among the first to integrate CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategies. From functional needs, through the act of buying, to recycling, the paradigm shift is global. Thinking sustainably.
Responsible decision-makers boost company performance, aided in particular by new indicators that analyze the costs offset by purchasing. They are also thinking in terms of support for the act of purchasing: anticipating needs, analyzing functional requirements, understanding total cost of ownership and use, thinking in terms of circular network economies, etc.
With this global and relevant vision, the purchasing function will appear more pragmatic in the eco-logical sense.

Benjamin Chevalier is director of AMELIORE, a firm specializing in purchasing for companies and local authorities.
After several years with Casino and Leroy Merlin, in management and purchasing functions, he founded this human-scale firm with the conviction that purchasing departments are true "external resources departments".
In support of general management, purchasing, supply chain or HR departments, it demonstrates that a responsible policy and organization can improve a company's economic performance, in particular by taking CSR factors into account.
Graduating from the EMBA program in 2009, he teaches the Purchasing and Supply Chain major at the school.
